There are a lot of records, beliefs and researches worldwide about the curing effect of the Tokaji wines. They are attributed with general health conditioning effect and have important role in treating metabolic and neurotic diseases and in preventing anaemia. They have beneficial effects on the physical resistance and – due to their phosphor content – on the ossification.

Our predecessors were not mistaken concerning the beneficial effects of wine (Certain wines were considered medicine and the Hungarian Pharmacopoeia devoted a separate section to the Tokai Szamorodni and Tokaji Aszú even at the end of the 20th century.) The scientific researches demonstrated that moderate wine drinking can be beneficial in view of reducing the risks of coronary disease in case of men over 45 and women over 55. The key word is the temperance: for women 0.1 litre, for men 0.2 litre is recommended for the meals. It is a piece of good news to the friends of the white wines that the Hungarian white wines contain the substance of reservatrol having health protecting effect. The top wine in this respect "the wine of the kings, the king of the wines": the Tokaji Aszú whose antioxidant status is two or three times that of the other white wines. Louis Pasteur (1822-1895) said that "wine is the healthiest and most hygienic dink." The words of this great scientist are still valid today.
